OAS questions the President’s “strong incidence in elections”

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Organization of American States OAS observers delegation (OAS) yesterday announced it will recommend to its headquarters that the next Dominican or ruling party’s President "not have a strong incidence in the electoral processes."

OAS Delegation leader Tabare Vazquez declined however to specify if the suggestion stems from president Leonel Fernandez’s active participation in the ruling PLD party’s electoral campaign. “I’m neither voicing a value judgment, nor making any type of criticism."

Vazquez’s statement calling Sunday’s polls excellent was handed to the press by the OAS delegation in a hotel in the capital. "Upon the closing of the polling places, this mission must say that an excellent civic effort has been fulfilled in this country
