Ruling party won on economic stability and growth, Fernandez says

Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez yesterday said the governments’ sustained economic stability and growth, despite the world crisis, is why the country gave Dominican Republic’s ruling PLD party an electoral win on May 20.

He thanked Dominicans for their support and affirmed that president elect Danilo Medina has “great merits and many roots in different sectors of the Dominican Liberation Party and Dominican society.”

The Head of State said the perspective of a better future with a PLD Administration instills confidence which generated the highest direct foreign investment in the last eight years and in the country’s history. “In spite of the world crisis which affects Europe, the United States and many regions of the world, in the Dominican Republic, as the Financial Times writes today, we’ve maintained economic stability, growth and confidence, all of which in fact contributed to the PLD’s new triumph.”

Fernandez spoke after inaugurating two schools with 21 new classrooms and a church built at a cost of RD$88.6 million in Los Girasoles and Los Alcarrizos, Santo Domingo province.
