Two mild quakes shake the country

Santo Domingo. – Dominican Republic felt two 3.8 and 3.1 magnitude tremors 5:02am today, the first of which the US Geodetic Survey placed the epicenter around 102 kilometers northeast of Samaná and 203 kilometers northeast of Santo Domingo.

The 3.1 tremor occurred at 5:23am with an epicenter around 88 kilometers from Samaná and 183 kilometers northeast of Santo Domingo.

The area of the tremors is adjacent to the seismically active Puerto Rico Trench.
