The State must respect the law “starting with the President”

Santo Domingo.- President elect Danilo Medina is committed to create the Ethics and Transparency Directorate to fight corruption and enforce the law effectively, said the prominent sociologist Ramon Tejada Holguin on Tuesday.

A political analyst who worked on the institutional team of Medina’s campaign, Tejada said the Administration which takes office August 16 will have to "respect the law starting with the President."

"The whole state will respect the law," Tejada said quoted by CDN Channel 37.

The university professor also called the lack of respect for institutions a "huge deficit" which isn’t normal, since the existing laws aren’t effectively enforced as them citizens demand. "The state has been slow in implementing the laws."
