National Police fires son of its notorious ex Chief

Santo Domingo.- Police command announced the firing of captain Edward M. Candelier, son of the notorious ex Police Chief Pedro de Jesus Candelier, for taking part in political activities, which it affirms violates the code of conduct of Police officers.

It also announced the firing of 24 other senior, midline, junior and non-commissioned officers, including lieutenant colonel Manuel Ysaac José Polanco, for “serious disciplinary offenses and violations of laws and the Constitution.”

Edward Candelier had been held since he was accused of injuring Roberto Rosario Rojas, nephew of Health minister Bautista Rojas, during a brawl in a fast food restaurant.
