Two foreigners nabbed with drugs headed to Canada

Santo Domingo.- The Honduran national Maria Eugenia Acosta and the Canadian of Asian origin Van Thu Vu were arrested last night before boarding a flight to Montreal with a large number of narcotics capsules of in their luggage, the National Drug Control (DNCD) said on Monday.

The foreigners were detained prior to boarding Air Canada flight AC-1837 at Punta Cana Airport (east), where x-rays of their bodies came back negative, said agency spokesman Roberto Lebron.

He said agents of the DNCD and Airport Security Corps (CESA) found the drug in the travelers’ luggage. "They both fitted the profile proper of people engaged in international drug trafficking and for which their bags were inspected.”
