Agents seize boats for beach violations in Bavaro

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- Environment Ministry provincial agents seized several boats which occupied the 60 meters of shoreline at Bavaro beach, after a process of inspections and notifications.

Environment provincial director Julio Mora and agents confiscated the boats at the public areas Bibijagua and Jellyfish, for failure to comply with the Law on free access to the 60 meters of beach.

"The Environment Ministry will enforce the environmental standards required here, not only in the occupation of 60 meters, but also the change of fuels, proper management of waste water, among other environmental anomalies that exist in Bavaro’s coastline," the official said.

He said an inspection in those areas found two boats violating the rules, which were seized and towed to the marina at Cabeza de Toro.
