Scattered showers, high temperatures return

SANTO DOMINGO.- As the trough that brought downpours since Saturday moves on, the prevailing southeast wind will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours.

The National Meteorology Office (Onamet) forecasts some precipitation during the evening and early morning hours for the Northeast, Southeast, Central Mountains and the border area, and mostly sunny skies and high temperatures for the rest of the country.

It said it expects light rains Thursday afternoon mostly for the Caribbean coastline, the North and Northeast, from an approaching tropical wave, with some showers for the Atlantic coast.

Onamet said flash flooding and mudslide warnings remain in effect for Barahona province.
