Tourist region transport workers to walkout for better conditions

Santo Domingo.- The East Tourism Region Transport Union Wednesday announced they’ll suspend services July 12 and 22, to demand that employers sign a collective bargaining pact to improve the workers’ conditions.

Union spokesman Tommy Reyes said among other grievances, the union seeks shorter working hours and more vehicles.

Quoted by elcaribe.dom.do, Reyes said the protests will include dropping off the tourists outside the Punta Cana Airport, to protest what he affirms is a high fee charged by the terminal’s taxi drivers union.
