Police find truck, but not US$1.2M in stolen gold, silver ore

Santo Domingo.- The National Police on Friday said it recovered Thursday night the truck of the miner CORMIDOM which had been assaulted that morning by unidentified gunmen next to a village near the town Villa Altagracia on the Duarte Highway, when it was carrying 19 tanks of gold and silver ore.

According to local media, the stolen US$1.2 million worth of gold and silver ore was transported in 19, 55 gallon tanks on the recovered Daihatsu truck owned by Synchro Logistec, and driven by Ignacio de los Santos.

Also recovered in La Cuaba, 43 kilometers north of the capital was the Toyota Corolla which was escorting the truck, and a gun, stolen from retired Police major Victor Manuel Concepcion, a security guard of the company Synchro Logistic.
