UN body honors the First Lady for fighting poverty

ROME.- The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) ratified Dominican Republic first lady and vice president elect as its world Ambassador, in recognition of her efforts against hunger and pverty.

Margarita Cedeño was bestowed the honor in a ceremony held at FAO headquarters in Rome, in the presence of president Leonel Fernandez.

FAO director José Graziano da Silva handed the distinction to Cedeño and noted the Office of the First Lady’ numerous social development and agriculture and food projects across the country.

The First Lady and FAO Ambassador said the recognition will make her continue her efforts to better nourish Dominican families with even more enthusiasm, especially those living in poverty.
