Careful with local salamis, Consumer Agency warns

Santo Domingo.-A Consumer Protection Agency study found that many of the locally-manufactured salamis contain additives, preservatives and dyes harmful to health.

It also proved the existence of several clandestine sausage factories which operate with neither health permits, supervision nor regulation.

The study also found that some of those products don’t have ingredients listed on their labels or fail to list some of those used in their manufacture.

Quoted by eldia.com.do, Agency director Altagracia Paulino will host a press conference with General Rules and Regulations Dept. (Digenor) this week to release the results of the study on the quality of sausages. "The problem isn’t whether it’s made ??with mechanically deboned meat (MDM) or not, it’s about what the label says."
