Council to choose Justice for vacant Supreme Court bench

Santo Domingo.- The National Judicial Council (CNM) will meet Friday to choose a justice for the vacant Supreme Court bench left by former Chief justice Jorge Subero, who resigned in protest for being demoted.

President Leonel Fernandez convened the CNM members for 6pm in the National Palace for the meeting, likely his last prior to president elect Danilo Medina’s inaugural August 16.

The CNM is headed by the President, and its current members are Senate president Reinaldo Pared, Chamber of Deputies president Abel Martinez, senator Felix Vasquez, deputy Hugo Nunez, Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez, Supreme Court Chief justice Mariano German, and Justice Frank Soto.
