Low chance of showers, high waves along Caribbean coast

Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorology Office (ONAMET) forecasts low chance for showers over most of the country, from a high pressure system located over the north in the Atlantic, and the northeast wind.

However it said scattered showers may occur over the Southeast, Southwest and border area, from the remnants cloud of T.S. Ernesto.

Meteorology said rainfall will increase Wednesday and Thursday due to a trough in the upper atmosphere, and maintains flash flood and mudslide warnings for residents near rivers, streams and gullies, in the southern provinces of Barahona, Bahoruco, Independencia, Pedernales, and San Cristobal.

It said small craft warnings continue in effect along the entire Caribbean coast on higher than normal winds and waves, as high as 8 feet.
