Flash flood alert for the Caribbean coast

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) issued flash floods and landslide alerts for the National District and six provinces, from the downpours of the last few hours, while the Meteorology Office forecast continuing showers from a tropical wave over Haiti.

The COE said greater Santo Domingo, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, La Romana, San Pedro and San Cristobal provinces are under alert as downpours will increase along the Caribbean coast. from a tropical wave over the Mona Passage.

The scattered showers with thunderstorms will be more frequent and intense over the Southeast, Southwest and Central Mountains, mostly in the afternoon and evening.

The COE cautions residents in high risk areas, near rivers, streams steep slopes and creeks to take precautions and be on the lookout for mudslides.
