Agents seize nearly 30Ks cocaine headed to Spain
Santo Domingo. – The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) seized nearly 30 kilos of cocaine in 28 plastic bags yesterday afternoon before being shipped to Barcelona, Spain, weighing just over one kilo each.
The DNCD identified one of the suspects as Rosa Emilia Carmona Pozo, who resides in Santo Domingo, and the other as Jose Luis Merino Baez, who would allegedly receive the drug via courier in Spain.
"It’s been a recurring practice of international trafficking networks to employ private firms to send drugs abroad via mail, mainly to Europe and the U.S., but most are detected by our staff," said DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebron.
