Cement makers’s donation aims to help storm victims

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Association of Cement Producers (Adocem) donated 10,000 bags of cement to the Public Works Ministry, for the reconstruction efforts in areas affected by the flooding from Tropical Storm Isaac nationwide.

Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo received the donation and thanked the cement companies for their support.

He said the cement will be used to benefit thousands of families affected by the flooding in Pedernales, Barahona, Bahoruco and Independencia provinces.

He affirmed that the cement donated by Adocem will reach the hands of the people who really need them.

"On behalf of President Danilo Medina, we appreciate this gesture of solidarity and generosity, and you can be sure that we’ll coordinate with provincial governors so this donation gets into the hands of those affected, who really need it."

For his part ADOCEM president Osvaldo Ollersaid the donation of the cement is a small and recurrent social collaboration by the companies that form the industrial association.
