A bloody day for criminals as Police kill 5

Santo Domingo.- It was a bad day for suspected criminals as the National Police reported five killed yesterday, among them two alleged highway robbers who had assaulted passengers arriving through Las Americas Airport and three at the community Escalereta, Puerto Plata, on the Luperon road after an exchange of gunfire with a police patrol which gave chase after a burglary.

Two of the dead are Walys Garcia Lopez, 32, and Johanser Arias Martinez, 26, accused of assaulting passengers. The agents seized three pistols and travel documents.

In Puerto Plata, Police identified the victims only as "Rafael Fey," "Jose Luis El Rubio," and "Nisael El Compa," from whom police seized a pistol and a revolver, poisoned salami to neutralize watchdogs, a hammer, among other burglar’s tools.
