Electricity utility’s ex CEO denies leaving US$1.0B debt

Santo Domingo.- The former CEO of the State-owned electricity utility (CDEEE) on Thursday denied having left with a debt of over US$1.0 billion, as stated by his successor, Ruben Bichara.

Celso Marranzini said when he left the CDEEE on August 18, he left US$700.0 million to pay the power companies.

"I in fact left him the money with which to pay, what did happen was that we didn’t have time to locate the bonds because the transition period came, but the money was there, that is, the US$500 million which were placed now," Marranzini said.
