Police nab 7 of a “dangerous” gang of Czechs

Santo Domingo.- National Police chief Jose Polanco on Sunday said seven Czechs allegedly part of a "dangerous" gang of around 20 members which had committed several crimes in their country, were arrested and subsequently repatriated.

He said Interpol agents took part in the foreigners’ arrest in recent months, but didn’t identify the alleged criminals, who were deported to the Czech Republic.

Polanco said the alleged criminals were hiding in the Dominican Republic, after committing crimes including the murder of Czech police agents, assaults on banks and armored car robberies.

The police chief, speaking after a mass in the Cathedral of America, said the arrests came after an intelligence operation with Interpol dubbed "Dominic," involving investigators from both countries.
