Medina, officials, power companies reps huddle on energy crunch

Santo Domingo.- Since 9am Wednesday president Danilo Medina and electricity sector officials are in a meeting with representatives of power companies.

The situation of the power supply is at the center of the National Palace meeting, a well as the measures being taken to solve the problems arisen after Hurricane Sandy’s downpours.

In addition to Medina, who has received several reports on the power supply’s current status, State-owned Electric Utility (CDEEE) CEO Ruben Bichara, Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo, Economy minister Temistocles Montas and Finance minister Simon Lizardo, are taking part in the meeting, among others.

Energy failures have been affecting various regions in the last few days, some of which are blamed on the hurricane’s flooding.
