“Pilgrims” carry embattled former President’s cross

Santo Domingo.- Jacinto de los Santos, who together with Angel Sosa, “pilgrim of Dajabon” concludes his own pilgrimage whichi lasted one week today, after setting off from his native Higuey to Santo Domingo on Thursday, to support the embattled former president Leonel Fernandez.

De los Santos will start his final leg from Duarte Park at Santo Domingo East and head to the ruling PLD party’s Presidential Office, where he expects to be received by Fernandez himself.

"It’s information that I cannot say who has confirmed it to me," said De los Santos, also known as the Eastern pilgrim, when asked if Fernandez will be present when ne proclaim his solidarity with the ex chief executive.

Sosa meanwhile, also plans to state his solidarity with Fernandez, and will likely coincide with de los Santos in the PLD offices.

He said Fernandez kept his promise and allocated funds to build infrastructure demanded by Dajabon’s residents, especially near the Dominican-Haiti border.
