Punta Cana Airport agents bust Venezuelan with 243 bags of cocaine

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) arrested a Venezuelan Thursday night with 243 packets of cocaine taped to his legs and waist at Punta Cana Airport.

The DNCED said the detainee identified as Ramon Oswaldo Leal Cabello, 42, tried to board Fly Sunwing airline flight WG-425 to Montreal, but drew the suspicion of antinarcotics agents at the terminal.

It adds that the DNCD and an assistant prosecutor interrogate Leal at the agency’s headquarters in Higuey to determine who hired him to carry the drug, adding that it has notified the Venezuela consulate in Santo Domingo.
