High court to hear case of senator charged with embezzling RD$250M

Santo Domingo.- Supreme Court justice Alejandro Moscoso will hear the prosecution’s request to incarcerate senator Amable Aristy, charged with embezzling more than RD$250 million during his tenure of eight years in the Dominican Municipal League (LMD).

Chief justice Mariano German on Wednesday named Moscoso to hear Justice minister Francisco Dominguez’s request against the lawmaker from La Altagracia province, which states that Aristy represents poses a flight risk.

Meanwhile a hearing is pending in the Supreme Court on the challenge filed by Aristy’s lawyers, which seeks to revoke the case file against the former head of the LMD.
