Traffic cops impound 1,200 vehicles on expired license plates

Santo Domingo.- Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) director Juan Geronimo Brown on Monday said his agents have impounded 1,200 vehicles so far, for failing to renew their license plates.

He said most of them are private vehicles, but didn’t specify the amount.

Brown said the seized vehicles are being towed to the old greyhound racetrack, and safeguarded, contrary to what occurred in the past, "when vehicles left there were cannibalized."

The official’s announcement comes two days after the deadline to renew license plate stickers, which expired November 30.
