Chief Justice urges regional war on organized crime

Santo Domingo.- Supreme Court president Mariano German yesterday called for the region’s countries to join forces against organized crime, by coordinating laws and procedures to fight it.

He said like other recent advances, organized crime has also globalized to reach everyone, for which neighboring countries should enact laws jointly.

"We feel that the more harmonized the laws are in the war on crime and the procedures to combat it, the better we’re able to fight those who’ve organized to perturb society in our neighboring countries," Germán said.

Speaking to open a workshop for Central American and Dominican lawmakers and judicial officials on "The harmonization of criminal law in the fight against organized crime",

Justice minister Francisco Dominguez also attended the conference with delegates from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.
