Hero of the1965 Revolt to be buried in the National Pantheon

Santo Domingo.- The Senate Wednesday night approved the transfer of the remains of Colonel Francisco Alberto Caamaño to the National Pantheon, for his status as a National Hero and of President-at-arms during the Revolution of 1965.

The senate accepted the initiative by ruling PLD party spokesman Felix Nova, to exhume the remains of the “Hero of April” from the cemetery at Maximo Gomez Av., and transfer them to the National Pantheon.

The bill from the Monseñor Noel province senator also names a commission to head the ceremonies, including representatives from the Caamaño Foundation, the ministries of Interior, Culture and of the Armed Forces and the National Police and the Dominican Academy of History.
