Usually upstanding Senator denies “little barrel” is a slush fund

Santo Domingo.- The chairman of the bicameral committee studying the draft of next year’s Budget said the demands to eliminate the slush funds dubbed "the little barrel" given to lawmakers, don’t deserve any comment.

The normally upstanding Pedernales province Senator Dionisio Sanchez said he doesn’t even know what the "the little barrel" is, but acknowledges that its’ the fund used by lawmakers to distribute in their provinces at their discretion.

The deputy Guadalupe Valdez made the proposal to eliminate that slush fund lawmakers during a commission meeting, although Sanchez downplayed the initiative.
