Four deaths in drug shootout rocks sprawling barrio

Santo Domingo.- National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) president Rolando Rosado on Thursday affirmed that at least one of four men gunned down yesterday in the sprawling sector Herrera was known for drug shakedowns against rival gangs of traffickers, using fake narcotics.

He didn’t however specify which of the deceased conducted the shakedowns

In the shootout died Edwin Omar Cabrera (El Muerto), 33; Yonathan Fernandez, 23, and Luis Alberto Ramos Tapia, 27, whereas Israel Hernandez, 29, was injured but later died in a hospital. Also injured was Jose Manuel Gonzalez, 27.

"He died as he wanted to live, in a violent and illegal manner," Rosado said, adding that the DNCD continues to attack drug trafficking.
