High Court rules to extradite local man to the U.S. on drug charges

Santo Domingo.- The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled to extradite the Dominican Miguel Antonio Rosa Ureña (El Gato) to the United States, where he faces drug trafficking charges.

Second Criminal Chamber justices Frank Soto, Ester Agelán, Alejandro Moscoso and Hirohito Reyes authorized Rosa’s extradition, as requested by Deputy justice minister Gisela Cueto, and U.S. Embassy attorney Analdi Alcántara, but denied the provisional confiscation of the defendant’s assets.

The extradition request has been pending for more than one year in the Supreme Court, after the granting of recess 24 times.
