Alleged “Cibao Cartel” head agrees to U.S. extradition

Santo Domingo.- The alleged head of the "Cibao Cartel", Ivan Miguel Tineo on Monday agreed to voluntary extradition to face drug trafficking and other charges in a U.S. court.

As the Supreme Court Criminal Chamber Justices were ready to convene the hearing on the request for extradition, Tineo stood and said he’ll accept extradition voluntarily to face the charges.

The statement drew the immediate response of Justice Ministry Extradition Dept. director Gisela Cueto and U.S. Embassy lawyer Analdis Alcántara, who asked the court to certify the defendant’s willingness for extradition.

Tineo said he agreed to leave voluntarily because he realized there’s no justice here, and that he’s sure he’ll be acquitted in court because there’s justice in the U.S. "In reality there’s no justice here, knowing that I am innocent of the facts I’m charged with."
