Pop star jailed for allegedly beating Latin American Idol

Santo Domingo.- Urban music singer Manuel Baret (Vakero) was arrested Monday afternoon by the Justice Ministry’s Gender Violence Unit, after he appeared for interrogation on a assault complaint filed by his wife Martha Heredia, also a pop singer.

Once Baret was arrested, the entertainer took off his belt and shoelaces and handed them to an agent, who took him for questioning to the office of Unit prosecutor Andrea Villa, on Rómulo Betancourt Av.

For his part, Baret’s manager Dominic Martinez said Heredia’s complaint is placed his client in a difficult situation, since he was scheduled to perform in several festivals this weekend and had to suspended several other performances on the agenda.

Heredia became famous by winning the Latin American Idol reality contest several years ago.
