Authorities to launch safety measures for Virgin of Altagracia celebration

Santo Domingo.– From noon on Sunday, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) will implement the operational plan "Virgin of Altagracia 2013," which seeks to prevent accidents and deaths during the religious ceremony and the long weekend.

The entity announced that 3,021 people are involved in this plan; they will be located at strategic points on major highways and avenues, in urban areas of the country.

In addition, 69 emergency posts have been installed in highways, 57 in the East and 12 in other regions. The COE said 30 ambulances and a helicopter are also part of the operational plan.
