Ex president to head ruling party rally for Founding Father

Santo Domingo.- Former president Leonel Fernandez will head a rally of Dominican Republic’s ruling party (PLD) on Sunday, to mark the 200 years since the birth of Founding Father Juan Pablo Duarte.

The event will be held throughout the day at Independencia Park, site of the National Altar.

The PLD Political Committee made the announcement in a news conference early Tuesday, and noted that all of its members will attend the event, except president Danilo Medina, who’s slated to travel on Saturday.

The commission was headed by senior leaders Franklin Almeyda, Alejandrina Germán and Julio Cesar Valentin.
