Local man attacks New York City cop, flees precinct

Santo Domingo.- One of the city’s most infrequent cases was staged Thursday by Dominican Brandon Santana, who escaped from his guards after hurting a policeman at Brooklyn’s 78th Precinct, where he was charged with second-degree murder.

Authorities said Santana, 22, fled early Wednesday from the police station after his arrest for the 2010 murder of Alexander Santiago, at of that borough’s Park Slope neighborhood.

Santana escaped a few minutes after 2am from precinct located on 6th Av. with the ruse that he had to go to the bathroom urgently, which the guards allowed.

When one of the cops went to the bathroom to see why the suspect was taking so long, the Dominican national attacked a policeman and a scuffle ensued, the Police report says.

The NYPD said Santana struck the agent, although investigators didn’t specify neither how nor with what type of weapon, adding that the officer injury isn’t serious.
