Former President backs the government´s decision on Bahia de las Aguilas

Santo Domingo.– Former president Hipolito Mejia Friday morning celebrated his 72nd birthday at his residence surrounded by relatives, friends and political leaders.

In a statement released by his press department, Mejia said that although he does not know the reasons for president Danilo Medina to make the decision on Bahia de las Aguilas, he considered it as a proper measure but called him not to falter in the pursuit of plans and projects for the development of the southern region.

"The project of olive groves in Oviedo was abandoned, with an investment of over two hundred million, and the pipes were stolen, poverty remains the same. That’s the most beautiful place in the Caribbean and we cannot allow that," he pointed out.
