Haitians among 10 killed in Dominican Republic collision

Puerto Plata., Dominican Republic.- Two more people died Monday morning, bringing to 10 the number of fatal victims in the collision of a bus and a pickup truck occurred Sunday night near the town of Magiolo in Cofresi, Puerto Plata.

In addition to the deaths a considerable number of the passengers were seriously injured, and among the victims were identified several Haitian nationals.

FILE.- As many as 9 people were killed and more than 10 were hurt after when a truck full of members of a religious group ran off the road to a ravine in the town of Maimon, Puerto Plata on Sunday night, according to Civil Defense first responders.

The Daihatsu truck packed with parishioners was returning around 10pm. from a church in the community of Cabia, Maimon, where it collided with a bus traveling in the opposite direction.

Firefighters, Civil Defense and other agencies took the dead and injured to Ricardo Limardo Hospital, in Puerto Plata, on Dominican Republic’s north coast.
