Town’s sanitation workers block roads, snarls morning commute

Santo Domingo.- Workers of San Cristobal’s (south) trash pickup Dept. early Tuesday blocked the city’s four main roads with trucks, causing a major traffic jam that has snarled the morning commute.

The protesters demand that San Cristobal mayor Raul Mondesi pay them the February salary, after the Interior and Police Ministry allegedly retained the money.

A bus Loyola Polytechnic Institute has also blocked access to an industrial part on the 6 de Noviembre Highway, halting San Cristobal-Bani traffic, leaving commuters and students stranded.
