Holiday death toll at 21, expected to rise

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) on Sunday reported the deaths of 21 people during the Easter holiday, but the figure is expected to rise to more than 30.

Of the deaths, 19 were in traffic accidents and two drowned, said COE director Juan Manuel Mendez in a news conference.

The fatal accidents included several motorcycles and two heavy vehicles, Mendez said, adding that 100 people were treated for alcohol overdose, including 10 minors, and 26 for food poisoning.
