National Police is part of the crime problem, experts affirm

Santo Domingo.- The National Police shouldn’t be the main focus of the government’s Public Safety Plan, which should have started after that institution’s reform, because it’s part of the problem of crime, has become a dysfunctional from infighting, a lack professionalization and mechanisms and equipment to do the carry out its duty.

The conclusion stated by citizen security expert Daniel Pou, the researcher Tahira Vargas and "Policing for Citizenship Observatory " coordinator Rosalia Sosa, who also expressed that the plan presented by the Government last week should cover all ministries and be socialized so it can take effect.

Interviewed by the Corripio Communications Group, the experts criticize that the plan was outlined only generally and has yet to be presented in detail to the various civil society organizations, as well as the diagnostic base which supports it.
