Canada Mounties make cocaine bust on Dominican agency’s tip

Santo Domingo.- A cocaine haul of unspecified weight was seized Tuesday in Montreal by Canada’s Mounted Police, acting on a tip that the drug was aboard a boat which had set sail from Caucedo Port, Boca Chica.

In a statement Wednesday National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) spokesman Roberto Lebron said the cocaine was shipped out in container # CAIU2896393 aboard the freighter Maria Pia.

"This confiscation took place after the DNCD contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which clearly reflects the importance of information and cooperation exchange by Dominican authorities with different countries in the war on drugs and other forms of organized crime," Lebron said.
