1965 Revolt hero rests with Dominican Republic’s founding fathers

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Wednesday headed the ceremony to bury April 1965 Revolution hero Col. Francisco Alberto Caamaño in the National Pantheon.

During the solemn ceremony with dozens of officials and historical personalities present, Patriotic Dates Commission president Juan Daniel Balcácer narrated Caamaño’s heroic actions during and after the April 1965 revolt.

Caamaño, born in Santo Domingo June 11, 1932, began his military career in the Navy in 1949 prior to joining the National Police in 1960 with the rank of Major.
