National District Prosecutor’s challenge: Charge me if I’m corrupt

Santo Domingo.- National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso on Tuesday challenged anyone to bring her up on charges of corruption during her 11-year career as a prosecutor.

"All public servants should be subject to questioning, but care must be taken. I have absolutely nothing to regret in the exercise of justice. I’ve handled more than 800 government posts and I’ve never placed a relative of Yeni Berenice in a position under my charge," the official said in response to recent criticism from various sectors.

She said she doesn’t regret her decision to discard the complaint of alleged malfeasance filed by the former prosecutor Guillermo Moreno, against former president Leonel Fernandez.

"There’s a kind of unacceptable blackmail here that’s like ‘if you do what I like, fine, but if you don’t , regardless of whether it’s founded or not, they repudiate you, to me this seems as bad as corruption," the official said, interviewed on Antena Latina, Channel 7.
