A 4.4 magnitude quake shakes the eastern region

Santo Domingo.- A of 4.4 magnitude quake was recorded early Friday in the eastern part of the country, according to an official of the Santo Domingo State University (UASD) Seismological Institute.

Eugenio Polanco said the quake registered at 2am was centered south-southeast of the Mona Passage at a depth of 79 kilometers.

He said the tremor, which occurred at 18.30 north latitude and 68.30 west longitude, was felt in Punta Cana.
