Justice Minister says deportees must reintegrate urgently to society

Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Francisco Domínguez on Thursday announced that the Deportee Service Department will resume assistance to reintegrate deportees to society.

"Urgent alternatives are needed to facilitate the reintegration of deportees to society and a productive life. The fate of ex-convicts who return to the country has always been an issue of great concern to me," the official said.

He said the Department will form support and for follow-up groups, especially for those who return and have no home or relatives, attending all their needs and helping them adapt during the first few months. "We‘ll seek to resume the employment exchange to promote jobs in the public and private sector for those arriving, and to see how we help them form companies or start SMEs and improve their education."

Domínguez, speaking in a meeting of the Association of Deportees, added that a fund will be created to encourage micro businesses and help grow those already created.
