U.S. donates US$2.1M in equipment to fight drugs by air, sea

Santo Domingo.- The United States government on Wednesday equipment worth US$2.1 million to the Dominican Navy and the Air Force (FAD), including a Boston Whaler intercept speedboat.

The donation also includes communications equipment, spares for boats, engines and tanks for testing, night vision equipment, tool kits, personal protection equipment such as bulletproof vests, among others.

U.S. Embassy Chief of staff Daniel Foote, who headed the ceremony, stressed Washington’s contributions to the country to bolster the war on drug trafficking.

The U.S. government also donated night vision goggles to the Dominican Air Force to pursue drug traffickers by air.

Air Force Chief of staff José Ramón Hernández stressed the importance of the contribution for the fight against drug trafficking.
