Electoral Board wants a protest in the case of descendants of Haitians

Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) wants the Foreign Ministry to protest the Inter-American Human Rights Commission’s (IACHR) decision in the case of 48 Haitian nationals and descendants, since in its view the Dominican Government didn’t state its position.

After Monday’s session, the JCE said the Commission’s decision against Dominican Republic was based on false information. "There’s no truth to the IACHR’s underlying information,” regarding the case of 22,673 Dominicans of Haitian descent allegedly in an imminent risk of being expelled from the country.

The JCE also denied information that files have been forwarded to the Immigration Dept., since the plenary hasn’t discussed them.
