Medina on meets with Taiwan Defense chief in the Palace

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Wednesday met with Taiwan Defense minister Kao Hua-Chu in the National Palace, where they lauded the close ties between the two countries, as evidenced by the more than 400 Dominican military and Police officers who’ve received training in that nation.

Speaking in a press conference after the meeting, Kao, a retired general, said Taipei’s embassy funds major projects to benefit the Dominican people. “We’ll conduct several planting projects at the border and other initiatives on which the Embassy has made a great effort, not only to promote these projects, but also provide our experiences.”

The senior Taiwan official was accompanied by his wife Kao You-Youan Hsieh, Dominican Armed Forces minister Siegfried Pared, Taiwan ambassador Tomas Ping-Fu Hau, Taiwan deputy Chief of staff Shen I-Ming, and Political Warfare Academy director Yang Wei-Wu.
