New Drugs Control chief aims to attack traffickers’ pockets

Santo Domingo.- The new head of the National Drugs Control Agency on Tuesday said to dismantle drug trafficking structures they must also be attacked financially , since many of them recapitalize with the un-seized assets.

Julio Cesar Souffront said as long as traffickers preserve their finances they are able to resume their criminal activities.

Quoted by eldia.com.do, the official said in addition to striking at money laundering, the DNCD strategies include eliminating drug-sale points and continuing its in-house cleanup, in which agents undergo regular polygraph tests.

Souffront added that with technology and international cooperation, the authorities work to keep drug traffickers further away from the country’s maritime border.
