Police widen manhunt for military escort’s killers

Santo Domingo.- The National Police currently conduct 12 simultaneous raids looking for the murderers of Army 2nd Lt. Zuleika Ponciano, shot dead early Wednesday at the sector El Tamarindo, Santo Domingo East.

Police spokesman Jacobo Mateo said its agents conduct the sweeps accompanied by prosecutors, "for evidence to bring the gunmen to justice when those individuals are arrested."

Mateo, speaking in the program La Nota on 95.7FM, confirmed that several people are being held for questioning in connection with the murder of Ponciano, who was the military escort for one of president Medina’s two daughters.
